    M-201: Facilities Management

    This course (originally scheduled for April 9, 2021) is now being held virtually over 2 days.

    Learn how to preserve and enhance your association’s property and prepare for emergencies.  This course provides a hands-on approach to help you analyze, evaluate, communicate and plan for property maintenance. Your community will benefit from your increased understanding of the various types of maintenance—routine, preventive, emergency, corrective and scheduled.

    Topics include:

    • Evaluating existing maintenance programs and management controls
    • Analyzing maintenance contracts
    • Overseeing maintenance of common areas, using checklists and reports
    • Making maintenance requests and recommendations to the board
    • Identifying the basic elements of a disaster plan
    • Preparing a request for proposal, including bid specifications
    • Monitoring fulfillment of a contract
    • Interpreting and invoking contract warranties
    • Understanding the concept of sustainable lifestyles
    • ​Using a reserve study for ongoing maintenance needs

Along with your course registration you also have access to a wide array of relevant resources—including sample documents, pertinent articles from CAI publications, and much more.


    Course Length

    The virtual M-201 Facilities Management course will broadcast on Thursday, April 15 - Friday, April 16, 2021 from 12 Noon to 3:00 p.m. (EST) both days. You must attend both sessions and pass the final exam to receive credit for the course. This course fulfills all regular continuing education requirements through CAI and CAMICB. We recommend you take the course on a desktop or laptop computer for the best experience, and log-in 10-15 minutes before the start the course to ensure you are connected to the broadcast.
