    The Dallas Fort Worth Chapter of Community Associations Institute is proud to recognize the visionary leaders who selflessly served the interests of its members, the Chapter, and the community management industry:

    2020 | Kevin Cavanaugh - Cavanaugh & Company, PLLC

    Kevin D. Cavanaugh is a graduate of George Mason University. From December 1985 to December 2009, Mr. Cavanaugh was a principal of Goldklang, Cavanaugh & Associates, P.C. In December 2009, he formed Cavanaugh & Company, PLLC.  He is involved in all aspects of common interest realty associations and all types and sizes, including some of the largest homeowner and condominium associations. He has been involved with the audits of cooperatives and not-for-profit organizations.  He is a past president of the Washington Metropolitan Chapter of the Community Associations Institute (CAI) and member of the chapter’s Hall of Fame. Mr. Cavanaugh was been a member of the CAI National Accountants Committee for over fifteen years, including two years as chairman. He served on the CAI’s National Board of Trustees for four years and CAI’s National Business Partners Board for five years. He served on the board of directors of his own homeowners association for six years. In 2014, Mr. Cavanaugh became a director of the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of the Community Associations Institute and serves as treasurer.  He has been a presenter at both national and local chapters programs of CAI. He has also written numerous articles on common interest realty association finances and taxation.  Mr.Cavanaugh is licensed the States of Texas and Maryland, as well as, the Commonwealth of Virginia and the District of Columbia. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of CPAs, and Virginia Society of CPAs..

     2019 | Bruce Crawford, AMS, PCAM - Insight Association Management, AAMC

    With more than 21 years of experience in the community association industry, Bruce Crawford, President of Insight Association Management, has worked hard to perfect the art of community management. Crawford enjoys the interaction involved in association management, meeting with the people, and helping to build communities that residents love to call home.  In addition to earning his Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Bruce has earned and maintains both the Association Management Specialist® (AMS®) and Professional Community Association Manager® (PCAM®) designations from the Community Associations Institute (CAI).  He has previous experience working with the local chapter as a member of the programming committee.  Bruce feels that it is important for the Chapter to continue to provide quality education that serves both the seasoned professional and the newer managers in the industry.  He feels that serving on the board is a great opportunity to give back to the community, assist the chapter, and continue the advancement of best practices in the industry.

    2018 | Robin Anderson - Reconstruction Experts, Inc.

    Robin Anderson is recognized for top sales in her assigned regions with Reconstruction Experts where she has been a Sales/Marketing manager for over 7 years.  She has over 16 years of cumulative sales and management experience in the construction and service industries in the Texas area. Robin is a consummate executive, demonstrating exceptional abilities in business development, corporate sales, exceptional customer relations, and problem solving.  Her drive, determination and dynamic personality has continued through her volunteer efforts with the Community Association Institute where she has been awarded the 2012 & 2013 Volunteer of the Year Award.

    2017 | Worth Ross, CMCA, AMS - Worth Ross Management Company, AAMC

    Worth Ross began his real estate career in 1984 after receiving his Bachelor and Master degrees from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. He started Worth Ross & Associates in 1989, primarily to lease, manage and sell property owned at the time by the lending institutions of Nations Bank, Am-West Savings and Sun Belt Savings and the RTC and FDIC. Worth Ross & Associates, Inc. acquired property management accounts from several firms in 1999, including Bricker Management and its condominiums management division. This was a natural fit due to the hands on management style of the associates. The association management division quickly grew, so in 2002 the community association management portion of Worth Ross & Associates was separated and Worth Ross Management Co. Inc (WRMC) was formed. Today, WRMC is dedicated to providing HOA management services to many associations including several of the high-rise associations found in Turtle Creek.

    2016 | Sherri Schmoekel, PCAM -  SBB Management Company, AAMC

    Sherri Schmoekel, PCAM, is originally from the Allentown, Pennsylvania area. She moved to Dallas in 1981 and began working in apartment management in 1983. She made the move to managing community associations in January of 1985. Sherri joined SBB Management Company in June of 1991 as an on-site manager, moved into portfolio management, worked her way up in the company to Senior Community Manager, Director of Association Operations, and finally, into her current position as the Chief Operating Officer and now part owner of SBB.  Sherri has been involved with the local Dallas - Fort Worth Chapter of the Community Associations Institute (CAI) for many years. She previously served on or chaired the Programming Committee and the Magazine Committee. Sherri became a member of the National CAI Faculty a number of years ago and now teaches the M-202 (Association Communications), the M-203 (Community Leadership) and the M-370 (Managing Developing Communities) classes in CAI's Professional Management Development Program (PMDP).  Sherri joined the CAMICB Exam Development Committee.  This committee assists in creating the exam questions for the CMCA designation exam.  In August 2016, Sherri and her husband celebrated their twenty-ninth wedding anniversary. They have three children; all boys, ages 26, 21 and 8 years. Sherri is a huge fan of "I Love Lucy" and keeps Lucy memorabilia in her office. Sherri earned a third degree black belt in Taekwondo many years ago and enjoys scuba diving and riding motorcycles when she can.

    2015 | Michael J. Walker, CMCA

    Mr. Walker is semi-retired, and working part-time as a Benefits Counselor for group-employee benefits. Prior to his current role, Mike held investment management positions with insurance and financial services companies. He focused on commercial real estate assets on behalf of his employer and their international and pension fund clients. Mike's earlier career involved land use planning positions with state and local governments, and an engineering company.  Mr. Walker's community activities include currently serving as a member of the Board of Directors of Youth and Family Counseling in Denton County.  Michael also served as the Deputy Mayor Pro Tem and Councilmember for Place 1, Town of Flower Mound with prior service on his Town's Planning and Zoning Commission, Board of Adjustment, Oil and Gas Board of Appeals, Transportation Commission and Park Board. His past HOA activities include being a past President of Flower Mound's Bridlewood Homeowners Association, Inc. and a former member of their Architectural Review Committee.  Michael is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, and functioned in Infantry, Adjutant General, and Civil Affairs branches.  Mr. Walker earned a Master of Urban & Regional Planning degree from Virginia Tech, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fairfield University.

    2014 | Beverly Coghlan, CMCA, AMS, PCAM - Neighborhood Management, Inc., AAMC

    Beverly Coghlan is President of Neighborhood Management, Inc. (NMI), a professional management company for single family, townhome and condominium homeowner associations in the DFW metroplex and has over 16 years of experience in community association management.  Beverly has earned and maintains the Certified Management of Community Association (CMCA) designation, and the Association Management Specialist (AMS) designation. She also has earned the highest designation of Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM).  Beverly served as the President of the DFW Community Association Institute (CAI) Board of Directors for 2014 and also has served on the Board of Directors for several years.  She also was an active member of CAI committees, including the Education Committee for 8 years, and volunteered on the Expo Committee. During her tenure as Board President, the DFW chapter celebrated many accomplishments, including creating and empowering committees, implementing a new, written policy manual, and updating sponsorship packages. Beverly is also an active volunteer in the community and served on the Allen High School Band Board. She continues to give back to the community and supports local foundations for public schools.

    2013 | Stacy Shepherd - Southern Botanical

    Stacy Shepherd has been a leader in the Green Industry for over 30 years and involved in Professional Management Associations and Organizations for her entire career. Her entrepreneurial background has led her to start-up and develop three major markets for both National and locally-owned enterprises. She has served as on officer of the Board of Directors for private schools, her church, and two local professional Associations involved in the Green Plant business. She has led the way in new Business Development in the Landscape Industry since 2000, ranking in the top 10 Business Developers on the National level for both Interior Plants and Landscape Management. Her leadership on the Membership Committee of DFW/CAI has led our Chapter to national recognition for retention of existing members and new innovations in Membership Services. Stacy currently serves as Manager of Business Development for the Commercial Division of Southern Botanical, Inc.

    2012 | Robert Blend - The Blend Law Firm

    Bob was born in Canton, Ohio and attended college at Bowling Green State University, in Bowling Green, Ohio, where he earned his business degree by double majoring in Advertising and Selling and Sales Management. In college, Bob was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma which recognizes outstanding achievement by collegians in the School of Business. Bob attended Wake Forest University School of Law earning his law degree in 1985. He has been a member of the Community Associations Institute, since 1990 and was a member of the Texas College of Real Estate Attorneys and POA Sub-Committee of the State Bar of Texas Real Estate's Section which dealt exclusively with issues relating to property owners associations. Bob has actively participated with the legislation process dealing with property owners associations and he has given speeches, served as an instructor and participated in round table legal discussions concerning property owners associations, and has also held positions in the local chapter of the Community Associations Institute (CAI), including serving on the Board of Directors from 2007 to the present and serving as President-Elect in 2011 and President of the Chapter in 2012. Bob has also been honored by being selected as a Fellow of the Texas and Dallas Bar Foundations and has received the highest rating "AV" from the Martindale-Hubbell legal directory, one of the oldest legal directories in the country.

    2011 | Rick Tuzinski - Pavecon

    Rodrick (Rick) Tuzinski is a part owner and Sales and Marketing Manager for Pavecon. Rick has been with the company since January 2000. Rick began his career serving two tours of duty in the U.S. Army, primarily stationed in Germany. In 1988, Rick received his accreditation as an Engineering Technician from Arizona State University and began his career in the construction industry. Rick has worked in sales, management, quality control, and inspections. Rick has been very active in the Apartment Association of Greater Dallas, the Apartment Association of Tarrant County, BOMA, ACI, and CAI, as well as construction related associations. Rick has served on several committees as well as the PSC Council.Rick is an endurance athlete, participating in several triathalons over the years, including the Hawaiian Ironman in 1997 and trail runs in excess of marathon distances such as the 50 miler Sunmart held in Huntsville. His most recent achievement was to complete 96 miles of a 100 mile run in Vermont in July of 1999. For the last three years, he has coached girl's soccer. Rick's other passion is hovercrafting.  Rick has two older sons, and a young daughter with his wife, Cathy.

    2010 | Laurie Knight-Tinsley, CMCA, AMS, PCAM - Classic Property Management, AAMC

    Laurie Knight-Tinsley is President/CEO of Classic Property Management and Classic Real Estate Services in Arlington, Texas. Laurie has earned her Association Management Specialist (AMS) and the highest professional designation of Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM). She has also received her Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA) from the National Board of Certification for Community Association Managers. In addition to her professional designations from CAI, Laurie has also earned the Master Property Manager (MPM) designation from the National Association of Residential Property Managers (NARPM). As a Realtor, Laurie is a member of the Arlington Board of Realtors. Other professional memberships include the Fort Worth/Mid-Cities Chapter of NARPM, Apartment Association of Greater Dallas and Apartment Association of Tarrant County. She has an extensive history of service on boards, committees, etc. In the DFW Chapter, Laurie has served on the Programming and Social Committees.

    2009 | Ron Stephens, CMCA, AMS, PCAM - CCMC, AAMC

    Ron Stephens was named CCMC vice president in 2006 and currently provides executive guidance for communities in Texas and northwest Florida. Starting as a maintenance director in 1989, Ron has been a valuable part of the CCMC team. Since that time, he has served in a number of operational leadership roles, including director of maintenance and community manager for Hackberry Creek in Irving, Texas. Ron holds a bachelors degree in business administration from Trinity University. He is active in the Dallas Fort Worth Chapter of Community Associations Institute (CAI) and served as chapter president in 2009. Since 2005, he has served on the chapter's board of directors. Ron is also on the advisory committee for the Texas Community Association Advocates (TCAA). Ron is recognized as a Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA) by the National Board of Certification of Community Association Managers (NBC-CAM). He has also been awarded both the Association Management Specialist (AMS) and prestigious Professional Community Associations Manager (PCAM) designation from CAI, and is a licensed Florida Community Association Manager.

    2008 | Karen Boyd, CMCA, AMS, PCAM - RTI/Community Management Associates, Inc. "CMA" AAMC

    Karen Boyd is a Regional Vice President for the Plano Region for RTI/Community Management Associates, Inc. ("CMA"). Karen serves on the Executive Committee for CMA which sets policies, procedures and standards of operation for the company. As part of her current position, Karen supervises eight portfolio managers and five on-site managers with a total of 45 properties. Karen has been at CMA since 1997. Karen has served on the CAI Directory Committee for three years and was Chairperson for two of those years. Karen received her PCAM Designation in October 2004. Karen previously worked for a savings and loan which foreclosed on a number of master planned communities. Part of her job as an Asset Manager was to represent the savings and loan on the boards for the six master planned communities that she managed. Karen will tell you that Judi Phares, President of CMA, taught her how to be a Board Member. Karen holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

    1999 | Mark Southall, PCAM - Principal Management Group of North Texas

    Mr. Southall is President of the Principal Management Group of North Texas, which oversees the firm's operations through the North Texas region.  Mr. Southall holds the professional designations of Certified Property Manager (CPM) awarded by the Institute of Real Estate Management, Accredited Management Specialist (AMS) and Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM), the highest professional designation awarded by the Community Associations Institute, and Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA) awarded by the National Board of Certification for Community Association Managers (NBC-CAM).  A Certified Occupancy Specialist, Mr. Southall has also established himself as an expert in the field of assisted living.  Mr. Southall is also a Past President of the DFW Chapter of CAI.  A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Mr. Southall's background includes positions in banking, where he served for six years as the Senior Vice President of a prominent area bank.  A native Dallasite and lifelong Texan, Mr. Southall and his family live in Rockwall.

    Donna Hugly, CPA served as President of the Dallas Ft. Worth chapter in 1997.  She has also been elected as vice president, secretary and treasurer as well as serving on and/or chairing numerous committees.  Ms. Hughly is the shareholder of Hugly and Company, PC, a local CPA firm that provide consulting, tax, accounting, and audting services to small to medium size businesses including homeowner associations.  Ms. Hugly is active in her professional association including serving as past chairman of the Dallas Chapter of CPAs and executive board member of the Texas Society of CPAs.

    1994 | Dean A. Riddle - Riddle and Williams, PC

    Dean A. Riddle is a member of the bars of Texas, Georgia and North Carolina.  He received his B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1981 and 1985.  He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Dallas Bar Association and the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers.  He was chairman of the Homeowners' Rights Committee in 1994.  During 1990 - 1994 and 1998 - 2001, Mr. Riddle served on the Board of Directors of the Dallas-Fort Chapter of the Community Associations Institute (CAI).  He served as its President in 1994.  He has written and lectured extensively on the topic of litigation for community associations at the state and national level.  As an active member of CAI, Mr. Riddle has served as a delegate to the Texas Legislative Action Committee from 1993 to the present and has actively participated in drafting proposed legislation affecting planned communities.  He has represented community associations in at least ten states and has handled well over a thousand association cases ranging from assessment collection to multi-million dollar construction defect cases.

    1992 | Judy Alspaugh, PCAM, CPA - Capital Consultants Management Corporation

    Ms. Alspaugh is presently the Chief Financial Officer of Capital Consultants Management Corporation. Before being named CFO, she served as Regional Vice President for CCMC and was responsible for property management operations in first Houston and later Dallas. Before joining CCMC, Ms. Alspaugh was a partner in a property management firm and headed its property maintenance department. Her company was acquired by CCMC in 1981, at which time she joined the firm.  Her career prior to 1981 spanned 13 years in the accounting and management field. Ms. Alspaugh received her accounting degree from the University of Miami (Florida) and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Ms. Alspaugh was awarded the prestigious Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM) designation from the Community Association Institute (CAI) in 1991. Ms. Alspaugh's memberships include Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accounts. She served as a member of the CAI National Manager Designation Ethics Committee and in 1992 she served as President of the Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter of CAI.

    1984 | Frad Shapiro, PCAM - SBB Management Company, AAMC

    Fred A. Shapiro, PCAM, owner of SBB Management Company has over thirty-four years of real estate experience in Dallas, Texas and has earned the PCAM?designation from CAI.  As a leader in the community association industry, Mr. Shapiro is actively involved in CAI.  He previously served as president of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Chapter of CAI, as chairman of the Southwest Region of the Council of Chapters, as Vice Chairman of the Managers Committee and as a member of the Chief Executive Officer of Management Companies (CEOMC) Committee.  Mr. Shapiro is a frequent speaker at both local and national CAI functions.  Mr. Shapiro was born in Dallas and graduated from Hillcrest High School.  He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from the University of Arizona.  He has a twenty-five year-old daughter.  Mr. Shapiro is active in various civic organizations and currently serves on the Advisory Board of Directors of Children's Cancer Fund of Dallas, Inc.
